New Advisor Mentoring Program

In order to support and encourage the professional development and leadership potential of ILACADA members, we are proud to announce the establishment of the ILACADA new advisor mentor program. This program will match academic advisement professionals with experienced mentors to facilitate the development of effective advising and leadership skills. We are seeking individuals, mentors and mentees, who would like to share their advisement experiences, goals and excitement for furthering the innovative practices of our profession.ILACADA’s mission is to foster and inspire quality leadership through academic advising for the educational development of students and the professional development of advisors. As an allied member of NACADA, ILACADA promotes the overall awareness of academic advising as a profession. The ILACADA leadership team is committed to strengthening our profession throughout the state of Illinois and we strongly believe that the development of a new advisor mentor program is the next logical step.Working alongside ILACADA Leadership Team members co-chairs for the newly formed ILACADA mentor committee are Chandra Shipley, Director of Academic Advising at Illinois Wesleyan University, and Darla Huff, Academic Advisor, College of Business at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.   Committe members include Nelly Marcial (Wilbur Wright Community College), and Angell Davis (Illinois State University).The ILACADA leadership team is excited about the opportunities the new advisor mentoring program will provide in the coming years.
